Ethiopia ranks 10th in the world in terms of mission center.

The center of the global field of Christianity has shifted from the West to Africa, Latin America and Asia. The mission movement has also moved away from the previous one-way approach of “from the West to the rest of the world” and is now becoming polycentric.
Similarly, Ethiopian evangelical Christianity, which has been growing rapidly in numbers since its inception, is also a manifestation of this movement. Our country’s evangelical Christianity, which has flourished amidst much suffering, oppression, persecution and migration, is ranked tenth in terms of global mission centers.
This growth is the result of God’s sovereign power. Praise and glory be to His name! We must remember that this great gospel work was accomplished by indigenous missionaries and indigenous leaders who sacrificed their lives. However, even though we are scattered around the world for various reasons, God, in His sovereign providence, has made our persecution and migration missional.
This has great missional implications. There is hope: We are scattered; but we are sent!
